Free help for Santa Monica families

Find the right care for your parent, with someone beside you

We are a local senior placement agency serving Santa Monica and the Westside. We help families compare assisted living, memory care and board and care homes, work out what each one really costs, and decide with a clear head. Our help is free to your family.

What the first week looks like

How we work a Santa Monica search

The field here is small enough to go through home by home in a single sitting. That is the advantage of a city this size, and it is also the problem with it.

01

Tell us what the hospital said

Families often call us from a corridor at Saint John's or UCLA Santa Monica, holding a discharge date and no plan. Care needs, budget ceiling, part of town. That is enough to start making calls.

02

We phone the homes, not the other way round

9 of the 15 Santa Monica homes are six-bed houses with no website and no sales office. Finding out whether one has a room means somebody ringing the owner. That is the job.

03

Go and see them with us

A six-bed house tells you nothing from the street. We come along, ask the things families forget in the moment, and say so plainly when we think a home is wrong for your mother.

Same licence, very different places to live

Which of these you are actually looking for

The state licenses a four-bed house and a 174-bed building under the same rule, which is why the brochures all blur together. These pages pull them apart. If you would rather just read the list, the full state register for the Westside is on one page, with licence numbers you can check yourself.

A warm senior care advisor speaking with a family on the phone

We would rather tell you the field is thin than sell you a tour

Santa Monica holds 696 licensed beds, and 646 of them sit in 6 buildings. The 9 houses hold 50 between them. When those are taken, the next ring out is small too: Culver City has 7, Pacific Palisades has 3, Venice has 1.

The register files every home under the city printed on its licence, not the neighbourhood you would drive to. A house four blocks the wrong side of Centinela is filed under Los Angeles and will never surface in a search for Santa Monica. On the register itself, 2 homes carry a Culver City licence and a 90066 ZIP, which is Mar Vista.

Your family pays nothing. A home pays us if a placement holds, which is a real incentive and you should weigh it when we sound enthusiastic. It is also why we will tell you when the answer is a caregiver at your mother's house instead of a move.

  • The full state register, 26 homes and 1,401 beds, with licence numbers you can check yourself
  • A straight read on the 6 large Santa Monica buildings, including which ones we would steer you away from
  • The six-bed houses phoned one at a time, because there is no other way to reach them
  • Someone who picks up on a Friday afternoon when the discharge planner wants an address

Tell us the discharge date and we will start calling

Your name, your number, and roughly what your mother needs. A local advisor takes it from there. If we cannot help, we will say so on the first call.
